Clinical Services

Support Groups
A network of groups exists throughout the state. Meetings are attended by people with Parkinson's and their carers for social support and exchange of information. Support group leaders and members play an important part in education at the local level.
Research
Funding for small projects aimed at improving the current state of knowledge about the condition and/or which are likely to lead to an increased range of treatment options is managed by the association.
Community and Professional Education Speakers
Attend a variety of community groups to raise awareness about the impact of the condition. Education programs for health professionals and students in hospitals, nursing homes and tertiary institutions are conducted regularly. A varied program of seminars on topics of interest to people with Parkinson's and their carers, family members and friends is provided each year.
Information and Referral
An extensive library of print and audio-visual resources and quality educational materials is maintained for use by members, health professionals, students and lay groups. A 1800 telephone number is provided for country callers. Members also receive a bi-monthly newsletter and a quarterly national newsletter. Publications of interest to people with Parkinson's are available for purchase.
