On Wednesday 21 November 2018 Parkinson’s WA held a celebration at The Niche for the 20th Anniversary of our Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Service.

We were very lucky to have in attendance at the celebration, Honourable Roger Cook MLA (Deputy Premier; Minister for Health; Mental Health) who gave an uplifting speech.

20 years ago on November 23rd 1998 Janet McLeod started her first day as the first Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist in Western Australia, two decades later and Janet is still part of the team with seven other Nurse Specialists.

The Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Service provides education and support for people and their families living with Parkinson’s. This service is unique to Western Australia with a team of eight dedicated community based nurses, two of which are dedicated to the south west who visit people in their homes throughout Western Australia to assist with the management of their Parkinson’s.
