Last year, April 2017 marked the 200th anniversary of Parkinson’s, as it was 200 years since Dr James Parkinson published his 66 page essay, ‘The Shaking Palsy’ in 1817. His Birthday falls on April 11, which is now known as World Parkinson’s Day.

On World Parkinson’s Day, Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Parkinson’s WA will again be taking part in a global social media hashtag campaign #UniteForParkinsons, in 2017 over 160 countries use the hashtag.

2018 is especially important to Parkinson’s WA, as it not only marks 201 years of Parkinson’s, but it is also the year that Parkinson’s WA celebrates 20 years of the Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists.

How you can get involved:
• If you are on Social Media e.g. (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram), make sure you use the hashtag #UniteForParkinsons during the month of April, so that you can join the thousands of other people from across the world who are also raising awareness of Parkinson’s.
